Why co-produce with Flanders?

Co-production

The Flanders Region has many assets to offer international co-productions, but what makes it so unique? We put this question to some of our more frequent Screen Flanders applicants.

"Flanders is an incredible interesting region to co-produce with.", says producer Katleen Goossens. "We have different incentives which can be combined to cover the largest part of the spend in Flanders." Animation producer Eric Goossens points out the talented people who have worked the last 25 years on high-level animated movies, which are noted by acknowledged directors. Producer Viviane Vanfleteren adds that Flemish (co-)producers can put together the financing puzzle, and highlights the talent in animation studios. Producer Dries Phlypo identifies Flanders as the ideal partner because of the trained cast and crew, brilliant locations, high-standard post-production facilities (image, sound, VFX), and best equipped studios (such as the Lites water studio and AED). "For such a small region, we have a quite extensive range of different means in production and post-production."

Flanders has for over 30 years of experience of making series on a tight budget, which means that you are efficient, small and flexible, and that you know what you're doing. That combination of efficiency and professionalism, that goes hand in hand, is a major asset internationally.
