Filip Peeters assembles Flemish all-star cast for directorial debut
Flemish actor Filip Peeters starts shooting his directorial debut Wat mannen willen (What Men Want) on February 16, bringing together a team of established Flemish actors including Tom Audenaert (Come As You Are), Gene Bervoets (Borgman) and Evelien Bosmans (Marina).
Wat mannen willen is about six men who have one thing in common: they’re all looking for the perfect love - a quest that is far from easy these days, since men (and women too) don’t seem to know what women want any more.
For his debut behind the camera, Filip Peeters (Loft, Hell in Tangier, Salamander) chose to direct a remake of Männerherzen, a German feature of which a Dutch remake - Mannenharten – has also been made. Tom Audenaert, Gene Bervoets, Evelien Bosmans, Jonas Van Geel (Amateurs), Adriaan Van den Hoof (Aspe), Louis Talpe (De Ridder), Ruth Becquart (Clan, Deadline 25/5) and Nathalie Meskens (Code 37) will play the main roles.
Willem Wallyn wrote the screenplay of Wat mannen willen, and the director of photography is Danny Elsen, who was also responsible for the cinematography of Belgian Rhapsody, Time of My Life and Loft among others. Producer is Yoshi Asaert of Marmalade Films, in co-production with Lion Film Productions from the Netherlands. The Belgian release is scheduled for autumn 2015.
Wat mannen willen received support from the Screen Flanders economic fund, an initiative under the aegis of Economic Affairs Minister Philippe Muyters and Cultural Affairs Minister Sven Gatz.
